DEC 04 – EXPEDITION LONG PASIA
The ONE spot on the map I had yet to go in Sabah, and the one place I REALLY yearned to see, for its stunning natural beauty and exquisite Lun Dayeh people (the same as the Lun Bawangs of Sarawak, of whom I am particularly fond of. Grin.) We popped by for the 3 days in the runup to Christmas, savouring the camaderie and the cheer, under the guise of a community project – this was also my FIRST community project.

JUL 06 – MIRI, MESMERISED
Even less strictly a member expedition. Long story – initially my holiday plans consisted of travelling from KK to Kuching, light backpack in tow, stopping at every city on the way…and thanks to my competition entry and subsequent UK flight, I revised my plans dramatically, cajoling British Council to fly me to Miri from Heathrow. Which explains, why, on the night of 15 July, I was at the Miri baggage carousel, retrieving my 50 kg’s worth of souvenirs, feeling good that Sarah’s house awaits.

Kuching was, obviously, a work stint, and Ben and I showed up two days early, to research EVERY single eatery, note every single ATM location, and find every single short cut. And that’s what we did, for 12 hours straight each day, with predictable consequences on our skin tones.
